Coaches

Mrs. Elizabeth Calef

Head Coach

Eleven years ago, Mrs. Calef, a Physics teacher, is the one who started it all creating TJ2. She is always there for the students and has been rewarded with the very first Woodie Flowers Award. With her energy the team has thrived throughout difficulties. A physics teacher, she exhibits fantastic leadership skills and has done so for the past thirteen years. She is a knowledgeable robotics coach and advisor, and is always the person to turn to when someone has a question about the team.

Mr. Glenn Morrison (Moe)

Build & Drive Coach

Commonly known as 'Moe', he is the one who leads the build team. Either on the field or off the field, he always has a go-getter spirit. He is the drive and build coach who creates a strong relationship with all the students each year. Moe has as much spirit as you could possibly find on the team. He is passionate about what he does, and makes all of the build meetings enjoyable for all students involved.

Mr. Jack Phaneuf

Art Coach

You may often see him with his hair colored in crazy colors, hollering, and cheering on the team at competitions. The signature tie-dye t-shirts, headbands, and other clothing are dyed each year by students lead by Mr. Phaneuf. He is one of the most respected people on the team and is always accompanied by his signature cheerful attitude and is the heart and soul of TJ2. He is the SPIRIT of the team.

Ms. Bette Bridges

Fundraising Coach

A renowned Chemistry teacher who has been on the team for all thirteen years of the team's existence, she organizes fundraising events and takes care of all the money that comes through the team from all the candy sales, Canal Day money, auction and more. Although she has retired from teaching, she still remains an integral part of the team, and will hopefully remain as such for many years to come.

Mrs. Anne Hall

Outreach Coach

As a thirteen-year coach, Mrs. Anne Hall has been a very devout and committed member of FIRST robotics and TJ2. She is a dedicated math teacher who just recently retired after a 24-year career. Over her many years she has grown tremendous pride in the students of TJ2 as she has watched them grow and mature into great students. Her favorite thing about this organization in the connection made between students, teachers, parents and engineers. Mrs. Hall is the one who helps bridge the gap of information between the students, the parents, and the various companies throughout the country.

Mr. Thomas Calef

Mentor & Alumni

He is an official volunteer at FIRST and an alumni and mentor of TJ2. The all-knowing man on the team, he is the one who everyone can go to for advice and help whether it is about the electronics, the website, the robot, or almost any aspect of the team. He is a very important mentor to all members of the team, and has earned the team’s utmost respect, not only as a mentor and coach, but as a former student of the team.

Mrs. Leigh Cooley

Computers / Animation Coach / Chairman's Coach

Mrs. Cooley helps with everything about the computers team. An established math teacher, she strives on making sure that all members of the team not only learn about animation and other such computer software, but that they have fun in doing so. She is always accompanied by a cheerful attitude and a smile.

Mr. Dan Cooley

Website Coach

Mr. Cooley is a very knowledgeable graphics designer. He has designed all of the graphics that you see on the team website, and as you can likely tell, he’s done a great job with it. He coaches the website team and teaches the team about coding and website setup in a way that everyone can understand.

Ms. Carla Souza

Fundraising Coach

Ms. Souza is the person to go to for fundraising. A science teacher at BR, she helps keep track of fundraising and candy and helps out in all groups. She helps bring smiles, laughs, and fun to the team.

Ms. Virginia Jerome

Art Coach

Ms. Jerome is the newest addition to the TJ squad. She’s a new teacher at BR, teaching chemistry after Ms. Bridges retired. She helps out a lot with the art team and brings many ideas to the table as far as advertising the team around the school goes.
